Grant of Fixed Medical Allowance (FMA) to the Central Government Pensioners residing in areas not covered under CGHS

As mentioned in our Advance News, the GOI have revised the fixed medical allowances (FMA) payable to government pensioners residing in areas not covered under CGHS from the existing Rs.100/- per month to Rs.300/- per month retrospectively with effect from 01.09.2008.

  1. There no sense behind increasing FMA by Rs. 200/-. So long it was Rs 100, we thought probably there is no one who cares for our health or if there is any, who probably presumed we become superman after attaining the age of 60, or want us to die soon without medical assistance. But suddenly the FMA is increased by Rs. 200/- we feel who so ever recommended, perhaps never purchased medicine in his life, or is getting free medical treatment for the entire family, which justifies ignorance of rising medical cost.
